Meeting Point: Eastern Social Welfare Society
Eastern Babies’ Home of Eastern Social Welfare Society (ESWS) is an orphanage with about 35 babies aged 1 to 6 months, all awaiting adoption. Children’s doctors, nurses and caregivers care for them but they still need volunteers who are able to hold them, talk to them and feed them. Would you like to hold and care for babies who are awaiting adoption?
Step 1) Register by filling out the form below.
Step 2) Due to the babies’ weak immune system, a medical report/letter must be obtained from your doctor stating you do not have a history of tuberculosis, typhoid or hepatitis. This must be submitted prior to the first meeting via email to email@example.com.
Step 3) For the initial visit, attend a 3-hour session (30-40 minutes orientation with 2 hours of playing with infants)
Step 4) Make a commitment to visit the babies 2 hours per week for 3 months. You may find someone to alternate volunteering with so that each person volunteers every other week or volunteer with a friend and make it an even more enjoyable experience.
Schedule : Mondays 9 am – 12 pm, or Tuesdays 12 pm – 3 pm.
Directions: ESWS is a 5-minute walk away from Hongik University Station (#239) Exit 2 on Line 6 (green). Click for map and directions using subway, bus and taxi.
Registration ends: 2 days before the event. More details will be emailed to registered participants about 1-2 days before the event.
Participants: Maximum 7 adult SIWA Members (age 20+), who can make a 3-month commitment to volunteer.
