Meeting Point: Conrad Seoul Hotel
Welcome to October Coffee Morning! Don’t miss the opportunity to connect to other members while enjoying a delicious coffee morning.
Speaker: Ms. Rachel Stine from the Asia Institute.
Topic: For most expats, North Korea is a mystery. We associate it with concentration camps, terror, and nuclear weapons. But did you know that a modern day underground railroad moves North Korean refugees into free countries, where they have established vibrant and flourishing communities?
Ms. Rachel Stine of Asia Institute has worked with North Korean refugees for six years. A nonprofit finance professional, her past clients have included the ACLU, Liberty in North Korea, and the Metropolitan Opera. She has campaigned extensively for the Asian underground railroad that moves defectors into free countries. Her activism earned her The New School’s David S. Woods Humanitarian Award in 2013. Today, she lives in Seoul. She has until recently served as the digital fundraising director of Mulmangcho School for refugee children.
