Giving back to the Korean community is a cornerstone of SIWA’s mission.

Funds raised through our tours and interest group activities directly support the good work of local charity organizations.

As our flagship fundraising events, the SIWA & Diplomatic Community Bazaar and the SIWA Annual Charity Gala have raised more than two billion won. Both are highly anticipated gatherings every year and widely recognized for the significant attention and financial support they generate for important local causes.

The SIWA & Diplomatic Community Bazaar has deep roots in Korea.

Since 1962, it has brought together people, products and performances from Korea and all corners of the world. For one day each fall, attendees are transported to an exhilarating global exchange where they can discover unique products and handicrafts, sample the cuisine of different countries, enjoy cultural performances, and meet new people.

Embassies from more than 40 nations, women’s clubs, local charities, vendors and craftspeople, performing artists, Korean and international sponsors, and countless volunteers were among the more than 4,000 people who attended the Bazaar in 2014.

The SIWA Annual Charity Gala, held every spring, is an elegant and fun evening out whose proceeds, especially those from our sponsors, benefit selected Korean charity organizations. The gala features a cocktail hour, gourmet dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions, and numerous raffle prizes.

Whether it is through an expert-led tour of a traditional Korean neighborhood, a day hike to discover some of the country’s natural beauty, or one of our two major annual fundraising events – the SIWA & Diplomatic Community Bazaar, and the SIWA Annual Charity Gala – our activities offer members and non-members alike opportunities to learn more about our host country, forge friendships with women from around the world, and importantly, provide vital financial support to local charity efforts.
