The Welfare Committee oversees SIWA’s work with local charity organizations that provide direct assistance to some of the most vulnerable members and communities in Korea. New funding requests are welcomed throughout the year. The Committee team, comprised of SIWA members from around the world with unique backgrounds and perspectives, reviews requests on a regular basis and visits the organization to learn more about its needs and operations. In accordance with strict guidelines and protocols, the Committee then makes funding recommendations to the SIWA Board. The process typically takes about one month. Between May 2014 and April 2015, SIWA provided more than KRW 133 Million to 22 Korean charities.
